You're welcome Pickle!The one on the vine is different,that one has menu pages with pics and audio,(but minus Youngblood):..There is a volume level snafu between menus and clips,but it has a better presentation.I'll have another, better, finished product to share next year.Happy holidays!

The hope with posting IP addresses was that people would be able to report others or something like that, but obviously it didnt work. FWIW, as partisan as the band may be, they asked that certain topics be left alone, and it makes sense to do as was asked.

a fadeout in the middle of a song? wow thats wicked beat. i wonder why those guys did that. they tape right onto a computer so there should be no cuts at all. Them not getting the encore is because of the software they use to record. they use cool edit pro which i think sucks because it takes it like 10 minutes to save what you just recorded. sound forge rocks. only takes like 2 seconds to save stuff after you record it.

i bought it on monday...they had it out for sale sunday nite..which is cool..we didn't leave the site till 3 so we listened to the whole thing...it was missing the encore...they said it was because at first it didn't look like there would be one...also a fadeout during the lmylym at about 12 and half mins...wonder if they'll fix it when it's up one their page...sounds great though...

i taped at eden but kinda slacked on the day off yesterday. i'll convert it over at work today and hopefully have it up for download tonight. also digitalsoundboard.net recorded it off the board for sale. haven't listened to my tapes yet but it was VERY bassy when i was there. the sbd recording might have come out better.

That's incredible that you remember that TJ. I remember the dance floor for sure, but not the buns contest really. Did they play there more than once? That was the first time I saw them and it was by accident because I was really just going to the bar with some friends (I had never heard of max creek). I think it was early 80's but it might've been 79 - 80? I can remember like a tie dyed sheet hanging behind the band.

hey ren o gade....i dont have any of those shows...havent taped a show since 9/13/03...hey kydd...i was working for the band back when they played "the bridges" all i can remember of that venue was the black and white tile dance floor...and the "short" "shorts" contest they had at the break...lol...well...i remember the winners buns anyways...but i only know of one person who might have taped that show and he's in florida...

my "startup" cable pack would consist of: (1) mini-mini, (2) male to female RCA splitters, (1) RCA->Mini .. if you want to get fancy and plan on just patching you might want to invest in this thing called the Co2 .. it converts a digital coax signal to a digital optical signal.. that way you could take a digital patch off of a DAT deck. that co2 thing is optional though. if you're not super-anal about your recordings.. i'm sure you'd be happy with just an analog patch.

as far as finding out what cables you need you're better off talking to some tapers. i'm sure lots of people will be able to offer advice.

it records in uncompressed WAV format. It does have the capability to plug a mic right into it and it will power the mic.. but you're really better off getting a seperate preamp for your mics. as far as analog to digital.. it has a built in analog/digital coverter but i'm not sure on how good it is.. i've always done digital patches into it off of my preamp/a>d

thanks Phunky. I've done some taping in the past on cheap analog decks, and I enjoyed it. The new technology has gotten beyond me at this point. Like I'm used to thinking in terms of a deck, and a mike, and maybe a mike stand. Does the Nomad Jukebox 3 tape in a format that can be downloaded and burned onto cd's or is that why you need the digitial converter, etc., do you just plug a mike into it or is it more complicated than that? Do you know where can I learn more about this stuff (like mini rca's and cables, etc.)? Thanks for your response and the music!

kydd.. your best bet to get started will be to get a nomad Jukebox 3 and a mini-rca and mini-mini cable to patch. that way you can get a feel for taping to see if you like the responsibility and whatnot. MiniDiscs use compression and really aren't that good. plus the blanks are $2 each and you need to buy batteries and whatnot. the jukebox3 records onto a hard drive in uncompressed format.. uses rechargeable batteries with no need for blanks. that's what i'd get started with if i was starting today. then eventaully if you like it you'll need to get some mics and a preamp and analog to digital converter.

Not to butt it,(ok,yes,to butt in),but I have some 3-4th gen analogs from the 80s of the band,some nice pieces,and I am positive that they came from your masters.It would indeed be cool if the band could use some of that time frame for Maxology,even if the masters were to be on loan and returned,whatever...ok,butting out now.

What would you guys recommend for a good basic taping set up for $500 or less? Is minidisc any good? What is a good all around mike? Can you even get a decent set up for this kind of $? I would like to make make live music tapes that are worthy of listening to (not neccessarily perfect). Thanks for the downloads. You guys rock!

nice.. i think kbooth got the best copy. those large diaphragm mics can handle the heavy bass better than the small diaphragm ones that everyone else was using.

from what i heared the recording sounds very good...my cable only cuts out if it's not connected right and tight...it has never cut out during a show you just haf to find that sweet spot and then don't touch it..i'll upload to the archive in a week or 2

I can add a few details to TM's post. I taped virtually every show from 4/3/97 until 12/19/98. These masters are all soundboard DATs recorded at 48 MHz using a Sony D8 before 7/97 and a Sony D100 from 7/97 on. Many of these shows are not in circulation even though there were multiple tapers present.

A few years ago I purchased a collection of DAT masters from Carl Walter. Mostly soundboards starting in 1997 after the first CA tour and including most shows from that year and through the following year. I had the intention of keeping the collection together and converting them to a lossless format for wider circulation. But, the tapes are still taking up space in my closet, and the time has come for me to find a new owner for them. I'm not looking to make any profit from this. At the time I paid the cost of blanks, $5 per tape, and I'm only looking to recover my investment. I would prefer to keep the set as a whole, but since this is a substantial amount of tapes, I will consider breaking in into smaller lots. If you are interested in purchasing some or all of this collection please send me an email and I will get back to you. At this point I don't have a count of the tapes (aprox 200 or so) or an exact list of dates, but I can get details together as needed. Thanks!

I actually have put into circulation NYE 99 analog,about 3 years or so ago,and no bad incident has arisen...I had been very concerned that the show might get into the hands of someone not respecting the band,and then I'd lose my privilege to tape,but it seems to have stayed on the down low....I need to tweak the audio a little,it's an aud and there is saturation at a couple points,but it's an awesome recording..(it's Y2K that causes such pain!:))..about 3/4 of the way through it is patched with another vid source,as I had run out of tape...it's a nice memory shot....I'll probably work on this show first....

I've been hoping that the band would be wanting to do something official at some point,so I've been keeping most of the archive shelved.I'm getting more involved with editing right now, than taping,so I will be working on a couple shows in the near future....it's like,I could take the best performances of original material and put a release together for the band,if they wanted one,which I have no input on..I actually haven't asked.....but a full show,I would first have to ask the band if they have any problems with the performance. And putting out footage decreases the viability of a release being as successful as it could be....again,I (think) they would avoid the issue of copyright royalty and not release a full show...as far as doing a red show for tape,who knows.....and the last time I asked on the forum what cover songs people would like to have on such a release,I received no replies at all,that 'bfree again' cyber silence.

another thing i've been meaning to ask you.. do you have any digital video of full creek shows? would you be interested in a trade for the digital copy of something? i'm not sure what format you work with. but eventually being able to burn a creek show to VCD or DVD would be sweet :)

yeah dude, that place BADLY needs a whole new roof though. In preparing for NYE MagicMike + Buddy took around 300 gallons of water off the roof. i'm surprised it didn't cave in. they say the roof above the mirrored room looks like a swimming pool.

We all have preferences when it comes to recording. Personally, I enjoy the soundboard recordings because they filter out crowd noise and the like. It's a clean sound. If the band were to release another recording of a live show, I would buy it anyway. WE OWE THEM THAT! Some like red licourice and some like black. I think it's a shame to push aside the one's that help spread the word....:(

I thought the same Pzen,what with Phish doing it,and Mike G doing it,and what with Creek...all rhetoric of course,but if the band isn't recording,it would stand to reason that they really don't have an interest in hearing their shows.Aud tapes rule!!!...try mics onstage if you can set them up with the bands blessings,that 4:20 show sounds great.Of course,that last suggestion would be for one person only.

Why no more board patches???? That doesn't make sense to me at all. Over the years, we've spread the word musically by trading, burning free copies for people etc...We never charged a red cent. Without a doubt, my desire to see shows will diminish going forward. But then again, maybe some will be happy that I'm not in attendance...Bummer man!

i'd never trust anyone who wants you to send them money for shows. well.. the ROOM should be interesting now that theres no board patches... 15 tapers all crammed in near the poles. i can only give 3 analog lines out.. no splits but feel free to come off of each other.
